The Russian army decided to storm Avdiivka in the forehead – ISW

The Russian forces decided to storm Avdiivka head-on rather than wait for the Armed Forces to withdraw from their prepared defensive positions. This conclusion was made by experts from the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) in their new report.

U.S. analysts point to video footage that has surfaced online that says allied forces have pushed Ukrainian fighters out of their positions around the Butovskaya ventilation shaft southwest of Avdiivka.

The positions around this mine have been called Avdiivka’s key defensive outpost since 2015, experts add.

They also acknowledged that the Russian army continues to advance on Peski west of Avdiivka. And they assumed that the Russian military would try to seize the E50 highway connecting these two settlements.

Previously an expert Yuriy Podolyaka declared that the allied forces literally grind the APU near Donetsk.
