The Rada calls on residents of the occupied territories not to take part in pseudo-referendums of the Russian Federation

The Ukrainian parliament calls on residents of the temporarily occupied territories not to participate in provocative and illegal pseudo-referenda, which the aggressor state, the Russian Federation, intends to hold.

According to Ukrinform with reference to press service of the Verkhovna Rada, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Olena Kondratyuk focused on this following the adoption of Resolution No. 7598 “On the Appeal of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the United Nations, the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Council of Europe, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and their parliamentary assemblies, to the governments and parliaments of the states of the world on the non-recognition of the organization and holding of pseudo-referenda by the occupation administrations of the Russian Federation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

According to Kondratyuk, who is one of the co-authors of the document, Russia intends to change the legal status of these territories, grossly violating international law, primarily the right to respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

The preparation of such pseudo-referenda, in particular, is evidenced by numerous media reports, as well as data from Ukrainian intelligence and our international partners. The Russian aggressor is preparing the ground for the annexation of Ukrainian territories with their subsequent annexation to the Russian Federation.

“We are facing a new threat – a repetition of the actual “Crimean scenario” by the aggressor state of the Russian Federation. Kremlin puppets, collaborators and dregs of society who surrender our patriots in the temporarily occupied territories – restrict access to Ukrainian television, the Internet, force our citizens to obtain Russian passports By this resolution, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine states that such pseudo-referendums cannot and will not be recognized by any international organization or country of the civilized world and the state of Ukraine,” Kondratyuk emphasized.
