The President instructed to transfer the premises for the Museum and Cultural Center of Marchuk to ICIP

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky instructed the State Administration of Affairs to transfer non-residential houses to the address on the street. Volodymyr Vynnychenko to the management of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy to create a museum and cultural center for contemporary art of Ivan Marchuk

According to Ukrinform, the corresponding decree was published on head of state website.

“Agree with the proposal of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine and the State Administration for the transfer of non-residential buildings located at the address: Kyiv, st. Volodymyr Vynnychenko, 10, which is under the management of the State Administration of Affairs, to the management of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine to create a museum and cultural center for contemporary art of Ivan Marchuk,” the document says.

The President instructed the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the State Administration of Affairs to ensure the transfer of state property from the State Department of Administration to the sphere of management of the MCIP in the prescribed manner. The government should also work on the issue of creating the Ivan Marchuk Museum and Cultural Center of Contemporary Art as a state institution, assigning it to the management of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, ensuring that the necessary work is carried out for the proper arrangement of the center, its effective functioning and development.

As Ukrinform reported, on June 11, 2021, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed Decree No. 232/2021 “On the establishment of the Ivan Marchuk Museum and Cultural Center of Contemporary Art.” Thus, the head of state supported the initiative of representatives of the creative community to create a museum and cultural center of contemporary art in Kyiv, where the works of the famous artist will be presented.

According to the document, the Cabinet of Ministers, together with representatives of the creative community, was to develop within a month the concept of the museum and cultural center and an action plan for its creation.

The document instructed the State Administration of Affairs to ensure the implementation of relevant work on the reconstruction (repair) of buildings located at the address: Kyiv, st. Volodymyr Vinnichenko, 10, to create a center and work out the issues of their transfer to the management of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy.

On January 10, Ivan Marchuk published on the social network the draft concept of his museum and cultural center of contemporary art.

Ivan Marchuk is a People’s Artist of Ukraine, a laureate of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine, an honorary citizen of Kyiv and Ternopil, a member of the Golden Guild of the Roman Academy of Modern Art. In 2007, he was included in the rating of “100 outstanding geniuses of our time”, which was compiled by the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph.

The heritage of the master includes about 5,000 paintings, which are found on all continents of the world. For half a century of creative activity, he held more than 150 monographic and 50 collective exhibitions.

On May 12, the artist will turn 86 years old.
