President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky advises Ukrainians, when renaming streets and squares in their cities and communities, to turn to the history of Ukrainian Righteous Ones and perpetuate their memory.
He said this in his video message to compatriots, Ukrinform reports.
“By the way, discussions about renaming streets and squares are ongoing in many cities and communities of Ukraine. I advise you to turn to the history of the Ukrainian Righteous and perpetuate their memory,” Zelensky said.
In his opinion, this is precisely about the courage and humanity of Ukrainians, who have already proved that the evil that comes to our land inevitably loses.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops are destroying infrastructure facilities, residential areas of Ukrainian cities and villages with the introduction of artillery, multiple launch rocket systems and ballistic missiles.
In a number of cities and communities, Ukrainians are discussing the renaming of those streets and squares that were named after Russian figures, or have a name associated with the Russian Federation or the Republic of Belarus, from whose territory Russia unleashed a war against Ukraine.
