The performer of “Smuglyanka” Ibragimov died at the age of 75

Soviet and Russian singer Renat Ibragimov died in Moscow at the age of 74, the artist’s daughter said.

“Yes, he died. It’s hard for me now,” she said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Renat Ibragimov was born in Lvov in 1947, after which he moved to Kazan, where he lived for 45 years of his life.

The artist became widely known after he won the Red Carnation song contest in Sochi in 1975. In Italy they called him “Russian Pavarotti”.

In 1981, the singer became a People’s Artist of the RSFSR. Ibragimov performed such hits as “Tachanka”, “Our City”, “Zhomga”, “Cranes”, “Smuglyanka”, “You are waiting, Lizaveta”.

For many years he was the artistic director of the Renat Ibragimov Song Theater.
