The level of maintenance of the car park in the Russian Federation will fall. This was stated by the director of the Institute of Transport Economics and Transport Policy of the National Research University Higher School of Economics Mikhail Blinkin commenting on Pravda.Ru the statement of the major general of the police Vladimir Kuzinthat the lack of spare parts and problems with the maintenance of cars due to sanctions can lead to a deterioration in the technical condition of cars.
Blinkin does not deny the fact that, perhaps, thanks to parallel imports, some spare parts will be brought to Russia. But the fact that the overall level of maintenance of the car fleet will fall, in his opinion, is an obvious fact.
Blinkin said that nothing could be done in this situation. Car fleets will deteriorate, and car repairs will be worse, and often with “inadequate spare parts,” he said. He also noted that due to the sanctions in Russia, the process of updating the fleet, which has been going well in recent years, will worsen.
“The renewal of the fleet will go much more slowly, and the technical condition of existing vehicles will become worse. Here is a concrete fact,” Blinkin summed up.
Earlier, the Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of Traffic Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Police Major General Vladimir Kuzin, recalled that the technical condition of the car is the safety of the driver himself, the people he transports, as well as those who are outside the car.
“Problems associated with maintenance, with a shortage of spare parts, can lead to a deterioration in the technical condition of the vehicle, therefore, naturally, each road user, the owner of the vehicle <...>, first of all, must pay serious attention to the condition of his vehicle,” — Kuzin said.
