The first plane with Ukrainian refugees arrived in Canada

The first charter flight with Ukrainian refugees landed in the capital of the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador, the city of St. John’s

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the Canadian public broadcaster CBC News.

It is noted that the plane arrived from Katowice, Poland, on board – 166 refugees, including 55 children.

All travel expenses were covered by the Canadian provincial government. She was met at the refugee airport by Prime Minister Andrew Fury.

Some of the refugees received an invitation to work in Poland, since the provincial government of Newfoundland and Labrador opened a special office in Warsaw to help Ukrainians with documents, employment and resettlement.

CBC News notes that since the beginning of this year in Canada more than 19 thousand Ukrainians arrived, but not all of them were refugees. Since mid-March, the federal government has approved over 90,000 visa applications from Ukrainians.
