Minister of Agriculture Kherson region Alexey Kovalev looks to the future with optimism, despite the difficult current times.
He said that the owners of a huge amount of land in the region are foreigners who previously bought the rights to lease land. Now, according to the minister, no work is being carried out on these lands, but by autumn Kovalev promised to work them with the forces of the “most courageous” who do housework and now, and plan to do so in the fall.
“In any case, we will not allow idle land like what happened in the 1990s, when agriculture was considered an uninteresting business. The land should work, even if its coward owner ran away. At the same time, we are not going to seize property from unfriendly citizens countries, as in these countries they treat Russians. Property is sacred,” Kovalev said in an interview with URA. RU.
The minister acknowledged that restrictions on agricultural work have been introduced in some places of the region, because of which farmers suffer. In addition, one cannot write off saboteurs who set fire to fields of already ripe wheat.
In addition, Kovalev advised Kherson farmers not to rush to sell wheat, but to wait until winter, when world grain prices traditionally go up.
