The doctor warned about the dangers of eating algae

Endocrinologist Marina Berkovskaya urged the Russians not to replace the appointed doctor potassium iodide in tablets with algae or dietary supplements from them.

According to Moscow 24 with reference to a specialist, when taking potassium iodide in tablets, you can accurately calculate the required dosage. As the doctor explained, in this case, the substance is perfectly absorbed in the human body.
According to her, patients, eating algae, often exceed the daily intake of iodine. She emphasized: an excess or deficiency of this substance leads to problems with the functioning of the thyroid gland. Berkovskaya advised older people to limit their consumption of algae.
“However, young people are not immune from the consequences,” the endocrinologist specified.
At the same time, the specialist drew attention to the fact that algae are rich in protein, polyunsaturated fatty acids, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. They can be included in the diet, but not on a daily basis, the doctor concluded.
