Russia took on the debts of the Soviet Union and paid them off, so it owns foreign property USSR. This was stated by the deputy of the State Duma Ernest Valeevcommenting in an interview with Pravda.Ru on Ukraine’s demand to return premises in Britain registered in the Russian Federation.
According to the parliamentarian, in addition to Ukraine, there are quite a lot of countries in the world that want to “take something” from Russia.
“The Russian Federation paid off the debts of the USSR. The former allies of the republic did not want to participate in this operation, so we owe nothing to anyone. All issues were resolved back in the 90s. Now these problems are being raised by the Baltic countries, Ukraine, Moldova. This is all shaking the air , politicking,” Valeev said.
He also stressed that the statements of Ukraine and other countries about the need to return part of the Soviet property to them have no legal basis.
Formerly Ukrainian Ambassador to London Vadym Prystaiko said that Moscow should return to Kyiv at least a third of the foreign property that was transferred to Russia, including premises located in the UK.
