The support for the peace process between the government of President Gustavo Petro and the National Liberation Army —ELN— continues. In recent days, the UN confirmed its work to accompany the talks table set up in Caracas and, now, the Catholic Church also accepted the request made by the office of the High Commissioner for Peace to oversee these negotiations.
This was confirmed by the Episcopal Conference through a pronouncement issued on the afternoon of this Sunday, December 11. In the letter they indicate that the invitation to participate in his capacity as permanent companion in the Dialogue Table was received “with gratitude and responsibility through the representation of the Illustrious Monsignor Héctor Fabio Henao”, an emissary who will contribute his knowledge to this process.
In response, the office headed by Commissioner Danilo Rueda received the announcement “with great hope” and highlighted the efforts that Monsignor Henao will make to “continue contributing to the Total Peace”.
