1. What will change at the front?
FROM the appointment of Valery Gerasimov as commander of the NVO First of all, the command and control system will change. He, unlike the former commander of the NMD, General of the Army Sergei Surovikin, will not have to spend precious time on “coordinating with Moscow” plans for certain operations. In addition, he will always have two Commanders-in-Chief “at hand” at once: Sergei Surovikin – the Aerospace Forces, and Oleg Salyukov – the Ground Forces. The appearance of such a high-ranking cohort at the head of the SVO is a sure sign of impending changes at the front.
2. Will tactics and strategy change?
Undoubtedly. Taking into account the fact that the West continues to actively pump up the Ukrainian army with weapons and mercenaries, the command of the NMD will objectively be forced to “extinguish” this process – to destroy enemy equipment on the way to the battlefield. The essence of such a strategy is clear – to make arms supplies from NATO countries to Ukraine meaningless.
We can expect a much larger use of attack drones, hypersonic missiles and tanks.
3. Will Russian troops go on the offensive?
After the complete establishment of control over Soledar, the command will not stop. For ahead is another powerfully fortified area – Artemovsk. Capturing it will mean breaking through the first echelon of the enemy’s strategic defense. It is possible that in the near future this is task number 1 for Gerasimov and his deputies.
But for this it is necessary to prepare very seriously (personnel, reserves, military equipment, ammunition). And, of course, to outplay the enemy with a cunning plan (Gerasimov has repeatedly shown that he knows how to do this brilliantly).
4. What is the “expansion of the scope of tasks to be solved” about which the Ministry of Defense speaks?
One of the first tasks, as already mentioned, is to take Artemovsk after Soledar. And there, a general battle is expected for the complete liberation of the DPR. And in the same place, the Kyiv generals have long been preparing an “impregnable fortress” for our army.
It is very possible that during this battle one of the turning points of the entire special operation will come. Under the “expansion of the scale of the tasks to be solved”, perhaps, they also meant the complete establishment of our control over the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, as well as over the Black Sea and Azov regions (and here you have Odessa and Nikolaev regions).
