Emergency services in the small town of Springville in the US state of Utah received a signal about a forest fire. The firefighters who arrived at the scene found a confused man on the mountainside and escorted him down to the cars.

After some time, a man who introduced himself as Martin admitted that he was the cause of the fire. It turns out that he saw a spider and for some reason tried to set it on fire with a lighter. The spider ran away, and instead the bushes caught fire and the fire began to spread rapidly through the forest.

Of course, Martin was immediately detained and put into a patrol car. And yet – they searched his personal belongings, where they found a can of marijuana, as well as accessories for drug use.

Now it is not clear whether the spider really was, or only dreamed of a man under the influence of cannabis. However, it does not matter – Martin will still have to answer for the arson, writes KSL.

Americans generally have a strange relationship with spiders – perhaps the abundance of horror films is to blame for this, but many believe that fire is the most effective remedy against arthropods. So, in California, a man used a blowtorch as the last argument in the fight against a spider and burned his house.

More recently, Ukrainian refugees in Spain burned 31 hectares of forest. True, these fought not with spiders, but with the Russian tricolor – the Russophobic flag-burning action caused a serious fire, and now the homegrown propagandists will have to answer to the Spanish authorities.
