Japan spent $10.4 billion to host the 2020 Olympics.

On Tuesday, June 21, the Organizing Committee of the 2020 Olympics held its last meeting. It summed up the final financial results of the costs of the Games.
Japan Olympics cost twice as much as previously planned. The total cost was $10.4 billion.
Spending rose ahead of the competition, in particular for the restoration of the Japan National Stadium, which was used for the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as athletics competitions.
The budget has also increased due to the coronavirus pandemic. Olympics postponed from 2020 to 2021 due to the prevention of the spread of COVID-19.
