“Thank you, Ukraine, for being you!”

Polish President Andrzej Duda congratulated Ukrainians on Statehood Day, noting that our country is protecting Europe from enslavement.

This message was posted by the head of the Polish state in Twitter in Ukrainian, Ukrinform reports.

“Thank you, Ukraine, for being you! And for protecting Poland and Europe from tyranny and enslavement. I want to express my best congratulations to all Ukrainians and Ukrainian women on the occasion of the Statehood Day of Ukraine,” Duda wrote.

As is well known, Ukraine on July 28 marks the first Day of Ukrainian Statehood.

The introduction of a new public holiday, which will be celebrated on the day of the baptism of Kievan Rus-Ukraine on July 28, was proposed last year by Volodymyr Zelensky during the celebrations on the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day. Then he signed the corresponding decree. The starting point of Ukrainian statehood is the year of foundation of Kyiv, the capital of Kievan Rus and modern Ukraine. Therefore, the new holiday will be celebrated on the day of the heyday of Ukrainian statehood – on the day of the baptism of Kievan Rus.
