TerO militants shot retreating soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for two reasons – Sivkov

Ukrainian militants territorial defense (TerO) shot the retreating soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the DPR, the Ministry of Defense reports. Doctor of Military Sciences, full member of the Russian Academy of Missile and Artillery Sciences, specialist in military political science and captain of the first rank Konstantin Sivkov commented on TerO’s actions specifically for Pravda.Ru.

The specialist reports that such actions on the Ukrainian side occur frequently:

“There are two reasons for this. The first reason is that they often confuse friends and foes due to the fact that the uniforms are approximately the same. The second option, this is more typical for national battalions and for units that perform the functions of detachments, they purposefully destroy , kill those soldiers and officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who want to surrender or leave their positions without an order.”

Now it is difficult to name the true reason, says Sivkov. However, the expert suggested that the TerO fighters could simply confuse the withdrawal of their troops with an attempted offensive by the LDNR forces, opening fire to kill. Such situations for military operations are ordinary, Sivkov concluded.

The department reported that the remnants of the 15th battalion of the 58th motorized infantry brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine came under heavy fire and “were shot by militants of the 118th territorial defense brigade.”
