Terekhov: “Kharkov breaks off all relations with Russian sister cities”

Deputies of the Kharkiv City Council at an extraordinary session unilaterally voted for the termination of sister city relations with Moscow, St. Petersburg, Belgorod, Nizhny Novgorod and Novosibirsk.

“Even in the first days of the war, I instructed to remove all Russian partner cities of Kharkiv from the website of the City Council. Because we cannot have sister city relations with people who kill Ukrainians and destroy our Motherland. Therefore, I propose today to break these relations. Such cities Kharkiv cannot have twin cities,” said the mayor of the city, Igor Terekhov.

The deputies also decided to rename four streets associated with Russia:

  • Etc. Moskovsky was renamed into Heroes of Kharkov Ave.;
  • Descent Belgorod – in the street. Heroes rescuers;
  • Belgorod highway – to Kharkov highway;
  • Moskovsky district – in the Saltovsky district.

It is noted that the authorities of Russian cities will not mirror the decision of Kharkov.
