Telegram transfers users’ voice messages to third parties

Instant messaging messenger Telegram has warned users that it shares their voice messages with third parties in certain cases.

In the updated version of the Telegram terms of use (founded by Pavel Durov) explains that when translating voice messages into text messages, Telegram may seek help from a third party, in particular Google LLC, which is a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc.

“The content of voice messages that users choose to convert to text may be transferred to Google to receive their transcribed versions,” reads the explanation.

Ksenia Sobchak commented on the news.

“And you say that they are spying in China. Your secret is our archive,” the journalist wrote.

Earlier it became known that the creator of the Telegram messenger Pavel Durov turned to Forbes magazine with a request not to put the definition “Russian” in front of his surname.
