State guarantees protection and support to those evacuated from Donetsk region – Vereshchuk

The Ukrainian authorities are working to ensure that all citizens who are evacuated from the dangerous region receive housing and social protection.

This was stated by Vice Prime Minister – Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Irina Vereshchuk, Ukrinform reports citing the ministry’s website.

“On the territory of the Donetsk region there are 200-220 thousand Ukrainians, of which 52 thousand are children. And the duty of the state and every adult citizen is to ensure the protection of their lives,” Vereshchuk said.

According to her, the evacuation from the Donetsk region is due to two reasons: the intensification of hostilities and the almost complete absence of electricity and gas supply. Consequently, settlements will be without heat this winter, the official noted.

As Ukrinform reported, on July 29, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine created the Coordination Headquarters, which will organize the evacuation from the Donetsk region. It was headed by Irina Vereshchuk. The headquarters included representatives of ministries, law enforcement agencies and the OVA.
