Starukh estimated “grain” losses in Zaporozhye

As a result of Russian shelling in the Zaporozhye region, approximately 30-40 thousand tons of grain crops were destroyed.

This was announced by the head of the Zaporozhye Regional Military Administration Oleksandr Starukh in his interview with Ukrinform.

“Since July 1, in the Zaporozhye region, as a result of shelling and arson, grain crops on an area of 1,561.63 hectares have been damaged by fires at 15 agricultural enterprises; in the Pologovsky district, at 13 agricultural enterprises, on an area of 8,132 hectares. In total, 9,693.63 hectares have been damaged. This is a fairly large figure. Approximately 30-40 thousand tons of grain. Approximate damage only on this issue is 340 million hryvnias. The last time Ukrainian fields burned like this during the invasion of the German Nazis. Now they are being burned by Rashists,” he said.

At the same time, Starukh assured that a normal crop would be harvested in the Zaporozhye region – up to 700,000 tons in the non-occupied part. “Now there is grain, the region will have bread, the stocks are secured this year,” the head of the ZOVA assured.

At the same time, he specified that five million tons of grain were harvested throughout the region last year. Starukh said that the main agricultural part of the region is located on or behind the collision line. According to him, Russian troops there simply steal or buy grain crops “for a penny.”

“Given the current situation, the question arises of what will happen to the sowing campaign next year. We may face the fact that people will not only not be motivated, but will not physically have the resources to do it. Then questions will arise with the provision of grain to the population food group,” summed up the head of ZOVA.
