Starukh about strengthening the defense of the Zaporozhye region

Planned work to strengthen the defense of the Zaporozhye region does not stop for a day.

This was stated by the chairman of the Zaporozhye Regional Military Administration Oleksandr Starukh in interview with Ukrinform.

“In March, the military command and I, understanding the forces of the offensive, built a defense model to stop the enemy on the outskirts of Zaporozhye, so that weapons of destruction would not reach here. We needed such a line of defense that they would not finish firing from cannons and multiple launch rocket systems. All the time trenches are being dug, strongholds are being built. These are hundreds of kilometers of trenches. All Ukrainian regions helped us in their construction. Planned work to strengthen the defense of the region does not stop for a single day,” Starukh said.

He noted that despite the attacks of Russian troops that have been going on for 5 months, the Armed Forces of Ukraine skillfully hold the defense: they shoot back, shoot down planes, knock out tanks, and destroy enemy personnel.

The chairman of the ZOVA assured that the region is protected by many motivated and strong fighters.

Starukh expressed hope that in the near future it will be possible to completely de-occupy the Zaporozhye region.

“The so-called reference points are September 1 and the beginning of the heating season. Firstly, the organization of the educational process so that children have the opportunity to develop. Secondly, without unity it will be difficult to provide the population with heat. Currently, there is no gas supply in Berdyansk, Melitopol, Vasilyevsky districts,” he said.

The head of the administration stressed that there are many difficult moments in the process of de-occupation of the region, but, according to him, this will definitely be done.

As Ukrinform reported, more than 70% of the Zaporozhye region is under temporary Russian occupation.
