Serbia and Kosovo must refrain from actions that could provoke violence – MFA

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called on Serbia and Kosovo to refrain from actions that could provoke violence.

This is stated in a post in Facebook Foreign Ministry Speaker Oleg Nikolenko, Ukrinform reports.

“We are monitoring the situation in the south of Serbia. The parties must refrain from actions that could provoke violence,” he said.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman strongly recommended that Ukrainian citizens refrain from visiting the southern regions of Serbia and avoid crowded places.

He also informed that on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba, an operational headquarters was created on the basis of the Ukrainian Embassy in Serbia and a 24-hour hotline was opened to help Ukrainians: +381631113185.

“In the event of a further aggravation of the security situation and blocking roads in southern Serbia, we recommend that Ukrainians use checkpoints on the border with the Republic of North Macedonia,” Nikolenko said.

As reported, the Serbs in the north Kosovo on Sunday, trucks blocked the main road near the Yarinje border crossing point. A blockade is also reported on the Pristina-Raska road.

The Kosovo police announced that due to the blockade, the border crossings of Jarinje and Brnjak are closed. People take alternative routes.
