Sandu hopes US will help Moldova fight crises

Moldovan leader Maya Sandu said that she was counting on Washington’s support in the fight against the economic and energy crises on the territory of the republic.

According to representatives of the President of Moldova, the head of the country talked with member of the US Congress Eric Swolwell. Officials talked about regional security and partnership between Chisinau and Washington.

“Sandu expressed her hope that the United States will help overcome the current crises,” the presidential press service said.

The politician also stressed that the situation in the republic had worsened due to hostilities in Ukraine. At the same time, the head of Moldova thanked the American authorities for supporting the economic development of the country.

Earlier, its former leader, Igor Dodon, urged Sanda to “leave pride” and visit Moscow for talks on Russian gas prices. Another politician called for the organization of early presidential and parliamentary elections.
