Yearly VTsIOM finds out from the Russians who they consider the main politician, athlete and writer. The traditional survey has been conducted for 17 years. And here are the results this time.

POLITICIANS

Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin became the number one politician. Pretty expected, if you remember that Russians always call him more often than others. The president has been in first place every time since 2006, when VTsIOM began to conduct such a survey at all.

Over the year, Putin’s political visibility has grown significantly.

In 2022, 55% of Russians named the head of the country the politician of the year.

In 2021, 38% made the same choice.

Premier is in second place by a wide margin. Mikhail Mishustin. He was named politician of the year by 21% of citizens (against 13% a year ago).

In third place with 13% is the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov.

Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu in fourth place in the rankings. 10% of citizens consider him the politician of the year.

Special Operations Commander Sergei Surovikin ranked for the first time. 9th place and 2% of the vote.

People could choose up to three different politicians.

ATHLETES

2nd place – Alexander Pushkin, 2%.

3rd place – Viktor Pelevin, 2%.

Topped the ranking for the longest time Darya Dontsova, she remained a writer for a year from 2006 to 2018!
