Russian troops advanced 5 km towards Lisichansk in five days – British intelligence

It is reported in daily review British Ministry of Defense.

“Since June 19, Russian troops have most likely advanced more than 5 km to the southern outskirts of Lisichansk. Part of the Ukrainian units withdrew, probably in order not to be surrounded. Russia’s great successes in this area are probably the result of the recent reinforcement of units and a high concentration of fire weapons, ”the message says.

According to British intelligence, Russian forces are putting increasing pressure on the Lisichansk-Severodonetsk agglomeration with their creeping advance along the outskirts of built-up areas.

“However, their efforts to achieve a deeper encirclement to capture the western part of the Donetsk region remain unsuccessful,” the review says.

At 4 am on February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a “special military operation” in the occupied Donbas.
