Russian occupiers were not going to change prisoners of war from Yelenovka, they were killed to cover up torture – intelligence

This was reported in the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense.

Scouts have established some circumstances of the deliberate murder of Ukrainian prisoners of war, including soldiers of the Azov regiment. The prisoners were interrogated by DPR terrorists, representatives of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation and mercenaries of the private military company Wagner.

During interrogations, the fighters were beaten and tortured in order to physically humiliate them, demoralize them and break them psychologically.

Representatives of the Russian special services planned to involve Ukrainian prisoners for filming in propaganda stories, where they “would confess to committed crimes, atrocities against the civilian population, the fighters would be shown to renounce their views, as well as to condemn the actions of the Ukrainian leadership.”

Interrogations and torture were carried out regularly, but were not successful, since the Ukrainian soldiers were not subjected to pressure from the occupiers.

The Main Intelligence Directorate stated that the Russians were not going to exchange Ukrainian prisoners of war, and therefore, in order to conceal torture, they deliberately killed them – Wagner PMC militants mined the place where the fighters were kept using a flammable substance, which led to the rapid spread of fire in the room.

As reported, on July 29, Russian propaganda media reported that as a result of an alleged strike by ZSU on a penal colony in the occupied Yelenovka, Volnovakha district, Donetsk region, where Ukrainian prisoners of war were kept, 53 people were killed and 75 were injured.

AT The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine indicatedthat the artillery shelling of the colony in the occupied Yelenovka was carried out by the troops of the Russian Federation in order to hide the torture and execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war held there, and by statements that the colony was shelled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russian occupiers are trying to accuse Ukraine of committing “war crimes”.

human rights activists declaredthat the death of several dozen Ukrainian prisoners of war, who are being held by Russian invaders on the territory of the Yelenovskaya correctional colony No. 120, occurred due to an internal explosion, and not due to shelling, since there was no sound of an arrival characteristic of it.

It is in the colony located in the occupied Yelenovka contain Ukrainian defenders from the Mariupol military garrison, including fighters of the Azov National Guard Regiment and the 36th Naval Infantry Brigade of the Ukrainian Navy, who left the territory of the Azovstal plant blocked by Russian troops in May.

At 4 am on February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a “special military operation” in the occupied Donbas. Russia launched missile strikes on the territory of Ukraine and launched a direct full-scale invasion in four directions. The armed forces of Ukraine are rebuffing the enemy, the blitzkrieg plan – to capture Kyiv in two or three days – failed, the Russian army retreated from the capital. The Russian military commits thousands of war crimes and crimes against humanity throughout Ukraine.
