The key topics of the two-day meeting of the heads of state and government of the EU countries, which will be held tomorrow in Brussels, will be Russian aggression against Ukraine and its consequences for the global economy, as well as granting Ukraine and Moldova candidate status for EU membership.

“EU leaders will discuss the latest developments in the Russian war against Ukraine, including its impact on the global food security crisis. They will also discuss continued European Union support for Ukraine, consisting of economic, military, political and humanitarian assistance.
As a separate issue, the leaders of the EU countries will consider the applications of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia for EU membership. The released message recalls that Ukraine applied for EU membership on February 28, 2022, while Georgia and Moldova made such a step on March 3, 2022. The European Commission released its official opinion on the applications of all three countries on June 17, 2022.
Before the start of the summit, EU leaders will hold an informal meeting with the political leaders of the countries of the Western Balkans and will discuss with them, in particular, the prospects for European integration of the region.
As reported, in its conclusions of June 17, the European Commission recognized the European perspective for all countries of the Associated Trio.
