Russia is preparing an “unpleasant surprise” for NATO – Newsweek

Despite statements by EU leaders and Western politicians that allegedly Russian forces in Ukraine are “decreasing”, Moscow may present the North Atlantic Alliance “an unpleasant surprise”, foreign analysts said.

Grounds for assuming a worse scenario appeared against the backdrop of a disappointing NATO report on the progress of the special operation in Ukraine.

“Retaining the ability to participate, if necessary, in operations against NATO can explain some of the features and“ surprises ”of the Russian army in Ukraine. For example, in the limited use of aviation, the gradual deployment of older and less accurate weapons systems, and discreet attacks in cyberspace,” quotes excerpts from the document Newsweek.

Analysts of the publication fear that Moscow may change the status quo, despite the fact that it adheres to a defensive strategy.
