Russia has no plans to return the Soviet past

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia has no intention of returning the past in the format of the USSR.

The President stressed that modern Russia no longer needs this.

“There is no Soviet Union. The past cannot be returned. And Russia does not need it today either. We are not striving for this,” Putin said during a speech in the Kremlin following the results of the referendums.

Putin noted that the greatest strength is the determination of people who consider themselves part of the Russian Federation.
