Russia handed over to the UN data on the use of mines “Petal” by the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Russia sent to the UN Secretary General Anton Guterres and Chairman of the Organization’s Security Council Zhang Junyu information about the mining of civilian objects by the Ukrainian military with the help of prohibited mines “Petal”.

As explained by the First Deputy Permanent Chairman of the Russian Federation to the UN Dmitry Polyanskyphotographic materials are attached to the document, indicating that the Armed Forces of Ukraine really use “Petals” in the course of hostilities.

“We sent a letter to the UN Secretary General and the Security Council Chairman with additional information about Ukraine’s mining of civilian objects in the Donbass with the Petal mines,” the diplomat said.

According to him, on July 29, the Russian side informed the UN about the use of anti-personnel high-explosive mines “Lepestok” by Ukrainian troops and promised to provide details. Now the organization has all the necessary information, Polyansky concluded.

In 2005, Kyiv refused to use “Lepestkov”. By using mines in the republics of Donbass, Ukraine violates international obligations.
