Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz rejected the possibility of using the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline for transportation Russian gas to European countries.
“Russia has the ability to supply gas to Europe in addition to Nord Stream 2,” Scholz said.
Scholz recalled that the certification of Nord Stream 2 was stopped, and Russia could well use other capacities to transport its energy resources, for example, Nord Stream 1 and the Ukrainian gas pipeline.
The opinion of former German chancellor Gerhard Schroeder about Nord Stream 2 is exactly the opposite – he believes that the gas pipeline should be launched as soon as possible.
However, the State Duma of the Russian Federation doubted that Schroeder’s point of view on Nord Stream 2 would be taken into account in Germany. This opinion was expressed by the deputy Oleg Morozov.
