Rocket Lab cancels US spy satellite launch due to bad weather

Rocket Lab canceled the launch of the Electron launch vehicle carrying the American NROL-199 reconnaissance satellite on board due to adverse weather conditions.

According to Ukrinform, this is reported by space.com.

Initially, the launch was scheduled for Tuesday at 8:00 am Kyiv time from the spaceport in New Zealand. However, due to strong gusts of wind, the launch was postponed several times and then cancelled.

The company has yet to announce a new launch date for NROL-199.

The NROL-199 spacecraft itself is a joint project between the US National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) and the Australian Department of Defense.

“The satellite will support NRO in relaying critical information to government agencies and decision makers who monitor international affairs,” Rocket Lab wrote yesterday.
