The Presidential Decree “On Strengthening Protection Measures” is published on the Kremlin’s website. Vladimir Putin instructed the FSB to guard three facilities of fundamental importance for Crimea: a bridge, a power line from the Krasnodar Territory, and a main gas pipeline.
Until now, the Krymsky Bridge has been guarded by the Federal State Unitary Enterprise Department of Departmental Security of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation. This is the Ministry’s own paramilitary security guard, which has almost a monopoly in guarding state transport facilities.
The head of the Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, in turn, announced from the evening of October 8 to October 23 a high (“yellow”) level of terrorist threat in three villages: Armyansk, Dzhankoy, Krasnoperekopsk.
In addition, increased readiness at all transport, utilities, medical, energy and industrial facilities of the Crimea.
“All the necessary measures to ensure the safety of residents and guests of the republic are taken by law enforcement agencies and law enforcement agencies in full. Republican and municipal authorities fully control the situation in the region,” Aksyonov said.
