The meeting with the permanent members of the Security Council was devoted to the single voting day today. The President held it in a closed format. Only the first few seconds of the meeting were available to the public:
– Let’s talk today about the work on the preparation of a single voting day in September, – began Putin. – It is necessary to prepare for its holding and adequately hold this major domestic political event. Provide the necessary conditions and security.
In fact, security was the main topic of the closed part of the meeting, because the only speaker was Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev.
Earlier, the head of the Central Election Commission, Ella Pamfilova, announced that elections of heads of 14 regions would be held on a single voting day (it is September 11 this year). Actually, it was planned that way.
– 40 candidates have already been nominated, of which 37 candidates were nominated by the regional branches of 13 political parties, three – in the order of self-nomination, – said Pamfilova.
And before the meeting with the Security Council Vladimir Putin honored the memory of those who died in the Great Patriotic War. This is a traditional event of the head of state on the Day of Memory and Sorrow on June 22. He laid wreaths at the tomb of the unknown soldier, honored the memory of the fallen with a moment of silence.
Veterans of the Great Patriotic War, participants in a special military operation, and graduates of military universities took part in the ceremony this year together with the president. Flowers were also laid at the Eternal Flame by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
