Psychologist told how to help mobilized children survive separation

The child of a mobilized man in the absence of his father must remember that his father remembers him and loves him, child psychologist Natalya Naumova told If possible, relatives should talk to the child or send letters together to maintain contact, as well as filter the information that comes to him, she noted. At the same time, Naumova emphasized that the family members who remained in civilian life know better than others how to build communication, since all children are individual.

Separation from a father is always traumatic for a child, so it is very important for relatives to warmly remember dad, express their pride and support. The age of “normative fear of death” occurs at the age of seven. If the child has already reached this age, you need to act very carefully. Under no circumstances should he be scared. Information should be limited, not complete. The child should live in peace, learn and develop. It is important to give as much information as he is ready to accept ,” Naumova emphasized.

She noted that all events should be presented, if possible, in rainbow colors, without causing increased anxiety in the child. The specialist pointed out that with regard to the veracity and completeness of information, each time it is necessary to build on the individual characteristics of a son or daughter: one can tell the whole truth about where dad is, and this can even be beneficial.

It’s better for another child to just say that dad has gone somewhere for work. At the same time, we will not completely deceive him, but we will not cause increased anxiety either. Every time experts look separately. As already mentioned, seven-year-old children are very afraid of death. And at this age, it is better for them to “not play with death”, that is, it is worth doing without stories about death and other risks. The child, while everyone is alive and nothing has happened, should not be frightened by your adult anxieties , – the child psychologist summed up.

Earlier, psychologist Marina Gladysheva, in a conversation with , said that relatives of mobilized Russians who find themselves in a difficult psychological state should start working on it as soon as possible in order to avoid deterioration. She noted that the best option would be to contact a specialist, but there are also quite effective individual practices, for example, a deep development system.

Vladimir Putin announced a partial mobilization on 21 September. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that Russians with experience in the army and a military specialty are subject to conscription. The authorities intend to mobilize 300,000 people.
