Professor Kroenig: Pelosi’s mistake in ‘anticipated’ visit to Taiwan

Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi was supposed to fly to Taiwan “unexpectedly”, said a professor at Georgetown University in Washington Matthew Kroenig. According to an analyst, Washington made a mistakeby unveiling Pelosi’s plans.

As the professor emphasized, the American politician should have acted “according to the scenario” of the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

“She should have just arrived, as in the case of the unexpected visit of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to Kyiv,” the professor explained in an interview with foreign policy.

According to Kroening, the United States, despite all the warnings from China, had no way out. If Washington abandoned Pelosi’s plans to visit Taiwan, this would be a signal to the PRC that the States have shown weakness.
