The referendum on joining Russia ended in the Donetsk People’s Republic. The voting lasted for five days – it started on September 23, 2022. The KP.RU website publishes the first preliminary results of the referendum in the DPR.

According to the results of processing 14% of the protocols, the accession of the Donetsk People’s Republic to Russia was supported by 97.91% of voters.

As the KP.RU website reported, at the end of last week, the turnout at the referendum on the entry of the DPR into Russia exceeded 75%. According to international standards, a referendum can be considered valid if more than 50% of voters voted in it.

Previously Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin turned to Russian President Vladimir Putin with the request consider the entry of the DPR into the Russian Federation in the event of a positive decision following the referendum.

Recall observers from Germany and Venezuela was struck by the high turnout in referendums in the Donbass. According to them, the number of voters in the DPR turned out to be even higher than the expectations of representatives of the precinct commission.
