The line to the icon of the Matrona in the Intercession Monastery. She was hanged for those who could get into the temple. But the guests of the monastery consider it their duty to uphold this image as well.

– What do you need to write?
– Yes, whatever you want! It has been verified seven times on my own experience – everything comes true!
Next to me on a bench in the garden Intercession Monastery (58 Taganskaya St., Marxistskaya metro station) two women of pre-retirement age are sitting. We have come to worship Matrona of Moscow. It’s drizzling, three of us take shelter under one umbrella. A woman in a beret pulls me a blank sheet of paper:
– Let’s write!
For the last 20 years, people have been lining up to the relics of the mother. 99% are women. No Internet is needed: hundreds of miracles and stories are broadcast across the country by word of mouth that happened after a prayer at the blessed shrine. During the life of the earthly Matronushka was blind, unable to walk and illiterate, but she healed and had the gift of clairvoyance.
Both then and now people came to her with some worldly requests. Defend a diploma, find a job, get cured, meet a spouse, send children. The saint, it seems, did not refuse anyone.
Recently, requests have changed.
The queue moves quickly – in an hour. The guards of the monastery say that now there are much fewer people than during the holiday season, when there are three to four hours. In one basket at the reliquary you put a note, in another – money (of course, if you wish!). At the exit, you can take a flower. Roses and chrysanthemums are brought to Matrona by the thousands. They are left at the shrine, and those that were there before are distributed to those who wish. It is customary to keep buds in memory of a visit to mother.
You can stand for another half an hour at the icon of the Matrona (it hangs on the wall of the temple on the street for those who did not get to the relics or inside the temple) and for another half an hour – at the reception, where they accept notes on health and repose.
And this is the end of the line to the reliquary. Not so big…

PRAYERS FOR WARRIORS AT THE MIRACULOUS ICON
When they talk about the Epiphany Cathedral in Yelokhovo – the Yelokhovskaya Church (15 Spartakovskaya St., Baumanskaya metro station), each believer chooses a favorite fact for himself. Some first of all say that Pushkin was baptized here, about which there is a commemorative plaque. Others recall that Patriarch Alexy II was buried here in the temple.
At the entrance to the cathedral, there is a diagram showing about a hundred shrines that are under the arches. And next to it is an appeal to brothers and sisters: “We accept help for the fighters on the front line.” Only they ask to carry it to the church of Nikita the Martyr in the neighborhood (Staraya Basmannaya St., 16).
One of the main shrines that believers go to is the miraculous list of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. The list is in everyday language, it is a reproduction close to the original. The icon is dated to the 17th century. Our Lady of Kazan is called the intercessor of the Russian Land. With one of the lists of icons, Minin and Pozharsky entered Moscow and defeated the invaders. With the image, miracles were performed during the Great Patriotic War.
“Go to her and pray for our soldiers,” they answer my question at the reception. – At 14:00 every day she has a prayer service just for this reason. Relatives of those whose relatives were sent for a special operation come.
In the Epiphany Cathedral in Yelokhovo, a miraculous list of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God is kept.

TO THE OLD WONDER WORKER
The Church of St. Nicholas in Klenniki (5 Maroseyka Street, Kitai-Gorod, Lubyanka metro stations) is for many just another little church in the center of a big city. Around boutiques, restaurants and hotels. And at the entrance to this temple they hang out the schedule of services, which is printed with felt-tip pens on yellow paper.
But for Orthodox believers, this place is very important. The relics of the elder Alexei Mechev are kept here. Here he was rector from 1893 to 1923. Then it was one of the smallest churches in Moscow. For the first eight years of service, no one went to Alexei Mechev. But having learned about the good priest, whose prayers were healed and received what they asked for, people began to flock here. There were especially many parishioners after the revolution, when large churches were closed.
Orthodox call Mechev one of the main Russian saints. Therefore, even on a weekday, non-stop people run into the temple from the noisy Maroseyka. There are even small queues at the shrine with the relics of the righteous. Two or three people, but people go and go …
Next to the reliquary at the post sits a grandmother who keeps order. Tells:
“We used to have a book—now it got stuck somewhere—in which people wrote about how the elder helped them. I read that there were so many apartments asked for – and God sent everything! And now, of course, they come with other prayers. For the husband to return alive, for the world to return …
Alexei Mechev served in this church, and after his death, his son Sergei Mechev became rector. He is numbered among the holy new martyrs.

“DIRECT LINE ON ITS ISSUES”
The Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord (Preobrazhenskaya Square, 9a, metro station “Preobrazhenskaya Square”) is the main temple of our Ground Forces. Therefore, after the start of the special operation, the number of parishioners increased here. Just a couple of weeks ago, Rector Father Boris opened a hotline.
“If you have questions related to the conduct of a special military operation, you need spiritual support, you are in grief and despondency, you can call – +7 (963) 771 3319,” the announcement says.
Every Thursday at 20:00 in the temple prayer singing for our warriors, those who are not indifferent are invited to join. There is a notebook in the reception where the names of close parishioners who have gone to the front are entered – they pray for their health.
All those who come to pray for the defenders at another time are offered to go to the image of the Archangel Michael – “the leader of the Lord’s army”, which is located directly under the military banners on the wall of the temple – and to the ancient icon of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow”.
In the Church of the Transfiguration, the icons of the Archangel Michael also offer to pray for the soldiers.

FIVE NONIVE QUESTIONS TO Batiushka
Answered by Archpriest Maxim Pervozvansky, cleric of the Church of the Forty Martyrs of Sebaste in Spasskaya Sloboda.
1. Previously, I was a rare guest in the temple, but now, against the backdrop of events, I went. This is fine?
– At the beginning of summer, the temples were filled with schoolchildren who were taking exams. They asked where to put a candle, in front of which icon to cross in order to pass the exam well. Priest Andrey Tkachev said: 300,000 mobilized means now 300,000 people will remember God. Such a somewhat consumerist attitude is peculiar to us. But nothing, the Lord tolerates us and seems to say: “Though so, but come!”
2. Is it worth going to the relics and other shrines?
– Of course, it is very good to call on the saints as helpers and protectors. Just remember to speak directly to God. From Him is victory, health, healing. It is important to understand: we do not come to a specific icon of the Mother of God, but to the Mother of God herself. Because She especially reveals herself before this image.
3. What if I can’t go to shrines?
– It’s OK. Go to the nearest temple, pray in front of the icons at home. The icon will help to direct our prayer more meaningfully, deeply, meaningfully.
4. How to pray for the country, for the mobilized and those who are already at the front?
– To pray for the country, read “About Holy Russia”. The prayer has been sent to all churches (a new prayer, on September 25, the Patriarch read it for the first time, see “On a note” – Auth.). If we pray for the army, we can read “Let God rise again”, “Living help”.
There are no other officially published prayers for “home use”. That is, there is no prayer for the protection of the mobilized. And the desire to find her comes from the prayer books of the 90s. They are very reminiscent of a book on magic. They wrote: to which saint in which case to pray. For example, the holy martyr Antipas – with a toothache. But the text of the prayer does not say anything about toothache. Because prayers of a general nature are collected, roughly speaking, for all occasions. They come up when we honor him with prayer singing on the day of the memory of the saint.
When we need words for a specific situation, we understand: prayers do not contain the very petition that we need now. Therefore, for loved ones at the front, you can pray in your own words like this:
“Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, hear me, unworthy of Thy servant (Thy servant). In Your gracious power, my husband (son, brother) (name of the rivers). Have mercy and save him, for Thy Name’s sake.
Lord, forgive him all sins, voluntary and involuntary, and enlighten his mind with Your Light. Confirm him in Thy commandments, send down strength of spirit to him, bless his service in every place of Thy dominion.
Lord, save him and (you can add the names of other soldiers), and all our soldiers from death, wounds and captivity by the power of Your Honorable and Life-Giving Cross, by the prayers of Your Most Holy Mother, the saint (the name of the Heavenly patron, the names of the saints to whom you are addressing) and all saints. Send them a quick victory.
Grant me strength and faith to accept Your Holy and All-good Will.”
5. How to behave those who stayed here?
– The main thing is not to panic. Turn emotions into prayer. If you have lost a loved one, do not just cry. We must turn tears into prayer. The same with joy. Anxiety and excitement – turn into prayer.
ON A NOTE
Prayer for Holy Russia
“Lord, God of strength, God of our salvation, look in mercy on Your humble servant, hear and have mercy on us: behold, those who want to fight against Holy Russia, hopefully divide and destroy her one people.
Arise, O God, to help Thy people and give us victory by Thy power.
Hurry to your faithful children, jealous of the unity of the Russian Church, strengthen them in the spirit of brotherly love and deliver them from troubles. Forbid those who tear apart in the darkening of minds and hardening of hearts Thy robe, which is the Church of the Living God, and overthrow their plans.
By the grace of Thy power, guide for every good and enrich with wisdom!
Confirm the warriors and all the defenders of our Fatherland in Your commandments, send down the strength of the spirit to them, save them from death, wounds and captivity!
Deprived of shelter and in exile of beings, bring them into houses, nourish the hungry, strengthen and heal those who are ill and suffering, give good hope and comfort to those who are in confusion and sorrow!
Grant forgiveness of sins to all those killed in these days and who died from wounds and illnesses and create blessed repose!
Fill us even in Thee with faith, hope and love, raise peace and unanimity in all the countries of Holy Russia, renew love for each other in Your people, as if with one mouth and one heart we confess to You, the One God in the Trinity glorious. Thou art intercession, and victory, and salvation to those who trust in Thee and we send glory to Thee, to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever, and forever and ever. Amen”.
Prayers for warriors: How to ask for help and blessings for the Defenders of the Fatherland
Despite the fact that mobilization in our country has been declared partial, it has affected the majority of people. But not in the literal sense (by far not in all families someone is called up for a special operation), but in a spiritual sense. (details)
