Pogba out of World Cup due to knee injury

TURIN, Italy (AP) — France midfielder Paul Pogba will miss the World Cup due to a knee problem.

Pogba returned to training with Juventus this month after undergoing knee surgery in early September.

He has not played any game since signing with Juventus from Manchester United and was injured again. Tests in Turin and Pittsburgh confirmed that the 29-year-old Pogba will not be ready for the World Cup.

“We won’t see him before 2023 and his relatives have confirmed that he won’t be at the World Cup either,” a Juventus spokesman told The Associated Press on Monday.

His agent, Rafaela Pimenta also published a statement.

“Following the medical examinations yesterday and today, it is with great sadness that we announce that Paul Pogba is in need of further rehabilitation after the operation,” he said.

“For this reason, Paul will not be part of the France team in Qatar.”
