Olena Zelenska spoke about the humanitarian situation in Ukraine at the Davos Forum

First Lady Olena Zelenska spoke at the Ukraine House at the World Economic Forum in Davos (Switzerland) and spoke about the humanitarian situation in Ukraine.

According to Ukrinform, this is reported by press office President.

It is noted that the wife of the President joined the conversation via video link from the Ukrainian House in Kyiv.

The First Lady showed the participants photographs of Ukrainian cities before and after the Russian attack, as well as photographs of Ukrainians injured as a result of Russian shelling.

Zelenska noted that now this is the image of the whole of Ukraine: wounded, the country is eager to live on and is fighting for it.

“When it became clear that the enemy was not just destroying civilian objects, but was doing it deliberately – we have more than 200 destroyed hospitals – we began to rescue the most vulnerable. We began to take children with oncology abroad. We take out orphans, and you can meet the teachers of two orphanages in Switzerland – they were accepted by the cantons of Bern and Vaud. Thank you for this,” Zelenskaya said.

“We save and provide the most necessary for those who remained in Ukraine. Incubators for perinatal centers… Today in Ukraine there are several dozens of children with limb amputations who need prosthetics and long-term rehabilitation. This is the task I am now starting to work on. I will contact the leading clinics of the world. And our absolutely new project is the National Program for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support,” added the wife of the President.

Responding to a question from the audience, Zelenska commented on the role of Ukrainian women in wartime, calling their resilience outstanding.

In addition, she told how to help and support Ukraine. First of all, according to the first lady, you need to get used to the war.

“From all of Ukraine, please don’t get used to the fact that bombs are falling on children somewhere in Europe. Talk about it. Because once we all get used to it, Putin will win a psychological victory. Secondly, check the information. The information war also continues now. And if it starts to seem to you that there may be some justification for an attack on another country, that aggressive actions may have some meaning, then this means that you are in the field of action of the Russian media, ”Zelenskaya said.

The President’s wife added that in order to support Ukraine, members of the public must influence their governments, urging them to tighten sanctions against Russia.

“The sooner she feels them, the fewer people will die in Ukraine. And representatives of big business, people with financial authority in the world, can influence the situation by stopping cooperation with Russian companies,” the President’s wife is convinced.

The first lady also spoke about how she manages to hold on during the war: “We have a meme regarding this. When Russian troops advanced near Kyiv, they dropped bombs from planes on the small cozy village of Borodyanka. And when our people returned, they noticed that a kitchen cabinet had been preserved on the wall of the bombed-out high-rise building. Plain, even with dishes. So now the question “how are you?” we answer: like a locker from Borodyanka, I hold on. That’s how we all are now.”

The World Economic Forum will run from 22 to 26 May in Davos (Switzerland). The event takes place after a two-year hiatus caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Due to the war unleashed by Russia in Ukraine, representatives of the Russian Federation are not invited to the forum.

The event brought together 2,500 participants, including more than 50 heads of state and government. Among the forum speakers are Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Olaf Scholz, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.

As Ukrinform reported, on May 23, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, during his speech at the Economic Forum in Davos, invited the countries of the world to take part in the restoration of Ukraine, noting that the amount of work is colossal, since the Russian Federation caused more than $0.5 trillion in losses.
