“Today, the head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office was appointed. They became Alexander Klimenko, who was declared the winner of an honest selection by the Contest Commission and was approved by the new Prosecutor General Andrei Kostin immediately after his appointment, ”said Yermak.
Yermak congratulated Kostin on starting work as the head of the GPU, and Klimenko on his appointment as head of the SAP and wished them effective work.
“An independent anti-corruption infrastructure is an important component of democracy in Ukraine. The fight against corruption is a priority for our state, since our investment attractiveness and business freedom depend on its performance. We must bring Russian criminals to justice,” Yermak stressed.
Alexander Klimenko was born in 1986, graduated from the National Law Academy named after Yaroslav the Wise in Kharkov. In March 2010, he began working in the internal affairs bodies in Kyiv. Since 2015, Klymenko has worked as a senior investigator in the National Police. Investigated cases of theft of property, in particular, investigated the theft of funds at Ukrzaliznytsia.
In March 2016, Klymenko took part in a competition at the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and became a detective, then a senior detective, and in November 2017, a department head.
During this time, he investigated the cases of ex-people’s deputy Alexander Onishchenko, ex-head of the State Fiscal Service Roman Nasirov and the current deputy head of the President’s Office Oleg Tatarov, who is responsible for directing law enforcement agencies. He is also the head of the group of prosecutors in the case of former deputy secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleg Gladkovsky.
The Verkhovna Rada on July 27 gave agreement on the appointment of a people’s deputy from the Servant of the People faction, Andriy Kostin, as the new Prosecutor General of Ukraine. His candidacy was proposed by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
