The International Boxing Association (IBA) has temporarily suspended the membership of the Boxing Federation of Ukraine (FBU). This was reported on the official website of the IBA.
This decision was made “because of state interference in the work of the organization.” The Ukrainian side will resume membership in the IBA, subject to the conditions of the autonomy of the federation and the recognition by Ukraine of the election of the President of the FBU, which took place on December 17, 2021. It is noted that Ukrainian athletes will continue to participate in boxing matches under the auspices of the IBA.
Recall that on the night of August 21 in Saudi Arabia, Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk defeated Briton Anthony Joshua in their second fight. The Ukrainian retained the titles of the world champion according to the International Boxing Federation (IBF), the World Boxing Organization (WBO), the International Boxing Organization (IBO) and the World Boxing Association (WBA).
Fury won 32 victories in 33 fights in his professional career and successfully defended his World Boxing Council (WBC) title twice in a row. He ended another fight in a draw.
