The chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin , instructed to open a criminal case in connection with the beating of a Russian by Lithuanian border guards, according to the agency’s website.
Earlier, the State Border Committee of Belarus announced that Lithuanian border guards brought a Russian to the border with Belarus, “dragged him out of the car and left him lying on the roadway, accompanied by a couple of kicks.”
“Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin instructed to open a criminal case on the fact of beating a Russian citizen by officers of the State Border Protection Service of Lithuania,” the message says.
The department added that Bastrykin instructed to establish all the circumstances of the incident and ordered the investigators to request all the necessary information from the Russian Foreign Ministry .
The course of the investigation of the case was put under control in the central office of the Investigative Committee.
Earlier, the Russian embassy in Latvia reported that Russian citizens encountered various problems and provocations when crossing the state border.
