Muscovites can get a free flu shot at mobile stations and clinics. This year’s novelty is that Muscovites will be able to get vaccinated in the very center of the capital, in GUM. Correspondent KP.RU vaccinated and tells how to prepare for vaccination.

– This year we tried to keep all the formats of flu vaccination that Muscovites love – these are mobile points and polyclinics. We have reopened checkpoints at some metro, MCC and railway stations. An online appointment for a vaccination in polyclinics is also available – citizens can choose a suitable slot and save their time, – said Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow.

Advantages of vaccination

Doctors remind that it takes about two weeks to develop immunity after vaccination, so it is better to get vaccinated not at the peak of the flu season, but in advance.

– Last year, 57.7% of Muscovites were vaccinated against influenza, that is, 7 million 299 thousand people were vaccinated in the capital. The results of vaccination campaigns in previous epidemiological seasons have proven that vaccination is the most effective remedy against influenza, the Moscow Rospotrebnadzor Office said.

Influenza is much more dangerous than the usual SARS, and can lead to serious complications: bronchitis, pneumonia, myocarditis, meningitis, encephalitis. The surest and most effective way to avoid this is to get vaccinated.

“In recent years, not a single case of severe flu complications has been registered in Moscow among those citizens who have been vaccinated,” the Moscow Health Department said.

You can get vaccinated against the flu in any convenient way: at vaccination stations in all city clinics, at mobile stations near the metro and in GUM.

How to get vaccinated at a mobile station

Muscovites over the age of 18 have been able to get vaccinated without an appointment, without queues at polyclinics for several years now. Just get off the subway and get into one of the 15 mobile vaccination rooms. Doctors of city polyclinics work in them.

I have been getting the flu shot for the third year in a row. This time I got out near the Kurskaya station, found an ambulance, on which it was written “Influenza vaccination is being carried out here”.

“We need a passport and a compulsory medical insurance policy,” the nurse says.

Vaccination, by the way, will be done regardless of the place of registration. I fill out paperwork. In my presence, an adult married couple and a man of about 40 fill out the same forms. Children under 18 years of age are not vaccinated at mobile points – vaccination takes place on the basis of kindergartens, schools or clinics.

– Youth is actively vaccinated. We began to observe the responsible attitude of people to their health. The procedure takes about 15 minutes, and the vaccination itself is less than a minute, says the nurse.

– Should I do it on an empty stomach or should I eat?

– Unprincipled. How do you feel more comfortable.

Doctors say that it is more important to follow other rules: do not get vaccinated for SARS, feeling unwell, high body temperature. Traditional recommendations: do not wet the vaccination site for at least a day, be on this day from visiting the bathhouse, fitness club and swimming pool. If a low temperature appears, then it is better not to knock it down, it can pass in a few hours. If necessary, take an antipyretic (such cases are rare).

IMPORTANT

Who needs a flu shot and what is the difference with a covid shot?

Andrey Tyazhelnikov, chief physician of the Consultative and Diagnostic Polyclinic No. 121 of the Moscow City Health Department, answered the main questions about vaccination:

Who is recommended to get the flu shot?

– By getting vaccinated, each person protects himself from the flu and its severe consequences. Moreover, mass vaccination creates herd immunity, which stops the spread of the virus. For employees of medical and educational institutions, transport, public utilities, vaccination is mandatory. It is also extremely important to vaccinate people at risk for severe disease. All of them are more likely than others to suffer the disease in a severe form.

– Is it possible to vaccinate children, pregnant women, people 60+?

– Influenza is a very insidious acute viral disease, which is dangerous due to the severity of the course, serious complications, and deaths. At risk are the elderly, patients with chronic pathologies, immune diseases, pregnant women, children. Doctors strongly recommend that everyone who falls into these categories get vaccinated. Children are allowed to be vaccinated from 6 months.

– Who will be denied (with what diagnoses)?

– Temporary withdrawal is recommended for people with diseases in the acute stage, or exacerbations of diseases at the moment. After recovery or during the period of remission, the vaccine can be done.

– Can I get a flu shot immediately after a covid shot?

– According to the recommendations of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, you can be vaccinated with two vaccines at once. They are placed in the forearms of two different hands. The results of a preclinical study showed that the simultaneous administration of influenza and COVID-19 vaccines does not reduce the effectiveness of either vaccine. There has long been a practice of simultaneous vaccination against measles, mumps and rubella, etc. In addition, the rehabilitation period after vaccination will not be more difficult than after one.

What is the difference between flu and covid vaccinations? Can I do just one or is it better to do both?

– Influenza is a seasonal disease with which mankind has been familiar for decades. The flu shot is updated every year. Coronavirus is not yet recognized as a seasonal disease and vaccines against the virus act immediately on all strains that are currently known.

When infected with two infections at once, and this is possible, the disease will be more severe and the risk of complications is higher. Also, a person with a weakened immune system can be ill with a coronavirus and immediately become infected with the flu. Therefore, you need to be vaccinated against two circulating infections.
