Doctors often tell you: drink little water, drink more (although the numbers, how much exactly, are different). Hand on heart, there are few lovers of just whipping clean water. But in vain: a new study has finally shown exactly how much water our body needs. People who drink enough water every day age more slowly live longer and are less likely to suffer from chronic heart and lung disease. Scientists observed 11,000 people for 30 years. The most persistent water drinkers crossed the 90-year threshold, and the study included people with health problems, such as obesity, and even smokers.

Volunteers, who went towards science, regularly measured blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar levels for 30 years, which showed in detail how the heart, lungs, kidneys and immune system work, how metabolism occurs, and whether there are inflammation processes.

It turned out that people with a level of sodium (salts) in the blood serum above 142 milliequivalents per liter (at a rate of 135 to 146) had a 10-15% increase in the chances of growing old prematurely, compared with those who had these figures in the range of 137 –142 mEq/l. But the level of sodium above 144 mEq / l increases the risk of early aging by 50%, and premature death by 21%. It turns out that if you drink enough water, then there are chances to “get away” from a heart attack, stroke, arterial and lung diseases, as well as diabetes and senile dementia. But about half of the people around the world do not comply with water recommendations.

HOW MUCH WATER SHOULD I DRINK A DAY

The daily rate is individual and is calculated as follows, from 30 to 50 milliliters per kilogram, that is, about 2.5 liters with a weight of 70 kg. The announced norm according to WHO is 1.5 – 3 liters per day. At the same time, a person receives almost half of all the necessary water from tea, compote, borscht and other liquids in the diet. The rest is important to “get it” with plain water.

Toxins are removed from the body with water, metabolism improves, and by regularly drinking water, we interrupt the constant desire to eat, says an endocrinologist, PhD, senior researcher at the Faculty of Fundamental Medicine of Moscow State University, author of the channel “Doctor Pavlova” and books “Deception of Substances” Zukhra Pavlova. – Very often people confuse the desire to drink and the desire to eat. Therefore, they drank a glass of water – sort of like, and they stopped wanting to eat. In addition, water perfectly normalizes the blood supply to the brain and helps prevent various unpleasant conditions, including those of an emotional nature.
