Muguruza: “I’m good at coming back suddenly”

Melbourne (Australia), 13 Jan. The Spanish Garbiñe Muguruza affirmed in the press conference prior to the start of the Australian Open that she is good at coming back suddenly when she does not start from her as a favorite.

“Sometimes being the favorite doesn’t help because a lot of people expect a lot from you and you have that pressure. I don’t think she is a favorite but I have many options to continue advancing ”, added the finalist in the 2020 edition that will begin her journey this Tuesday against the Belgian Elise Mertens (26).

The tennis player born in Caracas (Venezuela) added that the sensations are “bittersweet” because she has not been able to accumulate many preparation matches despite the fact that she is feeling good tennis.

“The competition is not quite fitting, I have missed games but I look good. From experience it can happen that I have a good tournament ”, he explained.

Muguruza, who lost in the second round against the Alize Cornet gala in the last edition, mentioned the names of the Polish Iga Swiatek and the American Jessica Pegula as great candidates for the title.

“Iga won a lot last season and that’s very difficult, while Pegula has played very well during the United Cup,” concluded the two-time major champion. EFE
