More than 60 people detained at opposition protests in Yerevan
Police detained 61 protesters during protests in Yerevan, where opposition supporters staged marches and blocked the streets.
This is reported Radio Azatutyunreports Ukrinform.
It is reported that people who took to the streets of Yerevan on Tuesday and blocked traffic were detained in four different administrative districts of the Armenian capital.
“At the moment, 61 people have been detained in different districts of the capital,” the statement said.
In particular, members of one of the group of protesters decided to completely block the street after learning that the police used force against another group of their associates and tried to detain them. A few minutes later the street was unblocked.
Street protests by the Armenian opposition began in late April after Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that the international community expects the Armenian side to lower the bar on demands for the status of Nagorno-Karabakh.
