MiG-31 fighter escorted a Norwegian reconnaissance aircraft

The MiG-31 fighter jet of the Russian Aerospace Forces was lifted into the air today as it approached the Russian border patrol aircraft P-3C “Orion” of the Norwegian Air Force and escorted it over the waters of the Barents Sea. The Norwegian plane then turned away from the border, and the Russian one returned to base. This was reported in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

The department noted that as a result of the professional actions of the crew of the fighter, tracking and control over the maneuvers of a foreign military vessel was ensured. Violation of the State Border of the Russian Federation is not allowed.

The flight of the Russian fighter was carried out in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace over neutral waters without crossing air routes and dangerously approaching an aircraft of a foreign state, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
