Meduza banned from attending daily Kremlin briefings | News from Germany about Russia | DW

Journal correspondent “Jellyfish” excluded from the pool of journalists who participate in daily telephone briefings by the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov. On Wednesday morning, May 11, ICQ chat administrators who organize Kremlin briefings removed the Meduza correspondent from the chat without warning.

According to “Jellyfish”, when asked why this happened, the administrators replied: “We are reducing the number of pool members.” At the same time, the administrators did not specify how much the Kremlin pool was being reduced, and who else was excluded from the list, saying only that “Russian media and media outlets in Russia” would remain in the pool.

Online edition “Jellyfish” was created in 2014 by the former editor-in-chief of the portal Galina Timchenko. Its headquarters is located in the capital of Latvia, Riga. Over the past few years, Meduza journalists have regularly taken part in Peskov’s briefings.
