Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk failed to qualify for the second round of the main draw of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Internazionali BNL d’Italia tournament in Rome (Italy) with a prize fund of $2.527 million.
Marta (No. 59 in the WTA rating) lost in two sets to American Madison Brengle (61) – 4:6, 3:6, Ukrinform reports.
The opponents spent 1 hour and 27 minutes on the court.
As Ukrinform reported, in the main draw of the competition in the Italian capital, in addition to Kostyuk, the second racket of Ukraine, Angelina Kalinina (36), who beat another US representative Madison Keys (22) in the first round – 6:4, 6:4.
The Internazionali BNL d’Italia will run until May 15th.
